James Ellison has revealed he will be riding injured in the second round of the 2014 MCE British Superbike Championship at Oulton Park following a fall at Brands Hatch.
The Lloyds British GBmoto Kawasaki enjoyed a strong first weekend with the team at Brands Hatch, claiming a podium finish in the second race, but would later reveal he had been riding through the pain barrier after hurting himself in an accident during Saturday qualifying.
With the adrenaline of the race weekend having no subsided, Ellison says he has been for scans to determine the scale of his injuries. Though he intends to ride at Oulton Park, he admits he isn't expecting a significant points' haul.
“After the highs of Brands Hatch it's definitely been a bit of a tough few days. I was sore for both races, but once the adrenalin kicked in I was relatively OK. After a few days rest things stiffened up and I was in some real pain for our test at Oulton last week.
“I could only complete one session, before we decided it was best to go for some scans and I'm now working with the BSB Medical Team to try and ease some of the pain and be in a bit of a competitive shape for this weekend.
“The injury is definitely a setback, but with the way the Showdown works if we can get two points scoring finishes here at Oulton then we'll still be up there and I can rest up in the break before Snetterton to be fit for then.”
