for BSB FP2 results
Josh Brookes has ended the opening day of free practice for the second MCE British Superbike Championship round at Oulton Park with the fastest time, the Australian nearing the lap record in the process.
Eager to claw back ground on main rival Shane Byrne after an indifferent BSB opener at Brands Hatch, Brookes rose to the fore with a lap of 1min 35.497secs, putting him just six hundredths shy of the Oulton Park lap record, set by Ryuichi Kiyonari back in 2006.
Heading up a quartet of Kawasaki riders, Stuart Easton and Shane Byrne gave chase in second and third, albeit three and nine tenths adrift of the flying Brookes respectively, while FP1 pace setter and the impressive Richard Cooper completed the top five.
Jakub Smrz was sixth fastest, ahead of Chris Walker and Kiyonari, with Tommy Bridewell and James Westmoreland completing the top ten.
