Josh Brookes has drawn the battle lines ahead of qualifying for the third British Superbike Championship round at Snetterton, topping third free practice by two tenths of a second.

With Shane Byrne dominating proceedings on the opening day of FP action around the Norfolk circuit, Brookes took his turn at the top of the timesheets by getting the edge on his main title rival in the closing seconds of the session.

Byrne was still second quickest, ahead of Jakub Smrz and Julien Da Costa, the two international riders continuing he strong form shown during practice ahead of qualifying.

Tommy Bridewell improves to round out the top five on the second of the Milwaukee Yamaha, ahead of James Ellison, James Westmoreland and Chris Walker, while John Hopkins and Richard Cooper completed the top ten.
