Ellison up to second with Snetterton podiums

James Ellison has strengthened his chances of reaching the 2014 MCE British Superbike Championship Title Showdown with a pair of competitive podium finishes at Snetterton.
Never far from the front of the field throughout the weekend, Ellison took the fight to Shane Byrne and Josh Brookes in race one, before settling for third, and would prevail in a race-long tussle for second with Tommy Bridewell during the second encounter.
Maintaining Lloyds British GBmoto Kawasaki's perfect podium record so far this season, Ellison is now up to second in the overall standings.
“That was an incredible second race and I'm so happy to have finally broken my run of third places with a second! Overall it's been a great weekend. We had some issues on Friday but the team have done a mega job and every time I went out the Kawasaki ZX-10R was better so full credit to them.
“This is one of the best starts to a season I've had, despite it being a new team we've kept a 100 per cent podium record after three rounds which is really important as we're now second in the Championship and have a steady stream of podium credits!”
However, there was disappointment on the other side of the garage for Chris Walker after technical issues left him 20th on the grid for the first race, even if a marvellous fight back would take him all the way to sixth. Starting higher for race two, Walker had eyed the podium but more gremlins would consign him to a DNF.
“Obviously this hasn't been the best weekend. We had a good pace throughout the practice sessions but starting down in 20th really put us on the back foot for race one. I got a great start and it was a relief to claim sixth place. Race two was a similar story and I was feeling comfortable in sixth but unfortunately a technical problem meant we couldn't bag the points. I'm really disappointed as the boys in the garage have done a great job, but we'll definitely bounce back stronger at Knockhill.”
