Ryuichi Kiyonari has marked himself out as a favourite British Superbike pole position at Knockhill after topping his second free practice session of the weekend by an impressive margin.

A three-time BSB champion but one that hasn't won a race since 2011, Kiyonari has been in fine form around the Scottish circuit so far this weekend on the Buildbase BMW and was the man to beat in FP3 as he lapped in 48.182secs.

In an otherwise close session that would see the top 19 covered by less than a second, Kiyonari's margin of four tenths over Shane Byrne gives him the edge heading into qualifying.

Behind Byrne, Chris Walker shrugged off his tumble yesterday to rise up the order to third position, ahead of Josh Brookes and Kiyonari's team-mate James Westmoreland.

Local favourite Stuart Easton was sixth best, ahead of John Hopkins, Bathams BMW duo Michael Rutter and Patric Muff, while James Ellision rounded out the top ten.

The FP3 session was stopped twice, firstly for a crash involving Harry Hartley and then again for a longer period when Milwaukee Yamaha's Tommy Bridewell fell at turn one and dropped fluid on the circuit, necessitating a clean-up operation. Bridewell was unhurt.
