for BSB Brands Hatch FP1
James Ellison has emerged as the early pace setter for the fifth British Superbike Championship round at Brands Hatch, ahead of Shane Byrne and Josh Brookes.
Eager to recover ground lost in a disappointing weekend at Knockhill, Ellison has begun his weekend at a scorching Brands Hatch in style by going quickest in the final ten minutes aboard the Lloyds British GBmoto Kawasaki.
Fellow title challengers Byrne and Brookes slotted into second and third positions, with Ellison's team-mate Chris Walker lifting himself to fourth position.
Knockhill racer winner headed up the BMW challenge in fifth position, ahead of John Hopkins, Tommy Bridewell and Jakub Smrz, the latter make it five different manufacturers inside the top eight.
Stuart Easton and Richard Cooper completed the top ten on their respective Kawasakis, with the latter's new team-mate Gary Mason – making his BSB return this weekend – an encouraging 16th quickest. Newcomer Lee Jackson, meanwhile, was 24th best on the Buildbase BMW.
