Brands Hatch BSB: Smrz leads damp FP3

Jakub Smrz tops damp Free Practice 3 at Brands Hatch BSB.
Jakub Smrz and Ducati led a damp Free Practice 3 session for the Brands Hatch BSB round on Saturday morning.

The Czech rider, just twelfth in the championship standings, made the best of the drying track to lead Knockhill winner Ryuichi Kiyonari's BMW by 1.734s.

GBmoto Kawasaki team-mates Chris Walker and James Ellison followed on the timesheets, with fellow ZX-10R riders Keith Farmer (PR Racing) and Ricard Cooper (Anvil Hire Tag) completing the top six.

Milwaukee Yamaha's Josh Brookes, who topped Friday practice ahead of championship leader Shane Byrne, was seventh. However Smrz's time was almost three-seconds slower than Brookes had managed in FP2.

Jon Kirkham (Halsall Kawasaki), John Hopkins (Tyco Suzuki) and Tommy Bridewell (Milwaukee Yamaha) rounded out a top ten covered by 4.550s.

Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki star Byrne only completed a handful of laps in the mixed conditions.

Qualifying takes places this afternoon.
