Tommy Bridewell has ended the first day of free practice action around Thruxton with the fastest time as less than a second covered the entire top 16.

Having seen Shane Byrne top FP1 with a hefty seven tenth margin over Bridewell, it was the Devizes rider that would emerge best in a closely-matched second practice session this time, the Milwaukee Yamaha rider stopping the clock at 1min 15.845secs.

Byrne held down second place less than half a tenth behind his rival, while Michael Rutter was an impressive third best on the Bathams BMW as the only other rider to break 1min 16secs.

Jakub Smrz set the early pace before slipping to fourth, ahead of Ryuichi Kiyonari in fifth, Dan Linfoot in sixth and Peter Hickman in seventh position.

Rounding out the top ten, Josh Brookes, Chris Walker and Richard Cooper were eighth, ninth and tenth respectively, albeit just half a second off the top spot.
