Having taken his first win in the wet at Brands Hatch just two weeks ago, Josh Waters proved again that he is a force to be reckoned with in the wet by topping a damp third free practice at Thruxton.

With intermittent rain greeting the riders for final practice before this afternoon's qualifying, Waters led fellow Brands Hatch podium winner Keith Farmer on the PR Kawasaki by four tenths of a second before a heavier shower towards the end prevented any further improvements.

Title contenders Josh Brookes, Shane Byrne, Ryuichi Kiyonari and Tommy Bridewell followed in third, fourth, fifth and sixth, the quartet split by just four tenths of a second.

Richard Cooper – who joined Waters and Farmer on an all-new BSB podium at Brands Hatch – was seventh best, ahead of Peter Hickman, Jakub Smrz and Lee Jackson.
