After suffering a high-speed crash in FP1, Josh Brookes struck back convincingly the second free practice session of the day at Oulton Park by setting the pace.

The Australian jumped to the top with his final effort, unseating long-time front runner Ryuichi Kiyonari with the only lap in the session to go below 1min 36secs. Indeed, Brookes' 1min 35.878secs would also prove 0.008secs better than Kiyonari's pace setting time from the morning.

Second quickest in FP2, Kiyonari headed up Shane Byrne as the three leading title protagonists prime themselves for a three-way tussle for the three races this weekend, the trio much faster than the remainder of the field.

Closely-matched Title Showdown contenders Dan Linfoot and Chris Walker were fourth and fifth best on their respective Quattro Plant and GBmoto Kawasakis, ahead of John Hopkins, Tommy Bridewell and Peter Hickman, while Jon Kirkham and Josh Waters completed the top ten.
