James Westmoreland will be back in MCE British Superbike Championship action at Cadwell Park after missing the last two events through injury.

The Buildbase BMW rider, who reached last year's Title Showdown, was forced to undergo surgery to his hand after an accident at Knockhill, leaving him on the sidelines for the following Thruxton and Oulton Park events.

In that time Westmoreland has slipped away from the battle to get into this year's Title Showdown, though team-mate Ryuichi Kiyonari is well on course instead having won three of the last nine races.

With this in mind, Westmoreland is focusing on simply getting good results under his belt until the end of the year, not least his first podium.

"Obviously I'm really eager to come back at Cadwell and start the second part of my season. It's been hugely frustrating and difficult time, but I've been working with a great surgeon in Mike Hayton and also some of the best physios, and they've done a great job with my thumb and wrist. I'm excited to get back on my s1000rr and with my Buildbase BMW team and have five strong rounds.

"I haven't lost any speed from last year, we have just had things go against us this season. Our pace has actually been very good, but we haven't put it all together. As you can see with Kiyo our package is very strong. It's important I learn off him in these five rounds, from a championship point of view our year isn't going to be great, but we can certainly salvage it with some good results if we put everything together."
