Dan Linfoot is refusing to get carried away after his debut British Superbike podium finish and maintains a place in the 'Showdown' remains his focused objective for the moment.

The Quattro Plant Kawasaki rider's consistent 2014 campaign peaked last time out at Oulton Park as he fended off a determined Ryuichi Kiyonari challenge in the third race to claim his maiden rostrum finish in the class.

Even so, Linfoot is adamant he won't be risking anything at Cadwell Park as he attempts to accumulate enough points for a spot in the top six come the end of round eight.

“My plan for the next two races isn't to stick my neck out and get more podiums,” he told “It is literally to get as many points as I can. Every morning I'm waking up, thinking, 's***, how many points do I need to get in now?' The team's aim and mine is to get into the 'Showdown'.”

With James Ellison sidelined from the previous two rounds with a broken leg and Linfoot scoring five straight top-six finishes, the Yorkshire man has climbed to fourth overall, 32 points clear of critical seventh place cut-off.

When a place in the top six is confirmed, Linfoot believes the pressure will then be relieved and thoughts can turn to challenging the front three on a regular basis.

“Once I'm in that's job done and I can relax and just attack the final few races with zero pressure and try and mix it with the boys every weekend and sort a job out for next year. If that means sticking my neck out and trying to win one or staying consistent to finish third or fourth I don't know. I'll be more relaxed with how I ride and I'm the one who's got nothing to lose. The top three have.”
