Josh Waters has expressed his delight at a competitive MCE British Superbike Championship weekend at Cadwell Park after picking up a pair of fifth place finishes, despite a heavy accident.

Though the Australian lays claims to a race win in 2014 - achieved in the wet at Brands Hatch -, he has struggled to mount a consistent front running challenge since joining Tyco Suzuki this year.

However, Waters would enjoy arguably his strongest full weekend of the season by finishing fifth in both races, even if he ended the first race off track when he crashed in increasingly slippery conditions. Despite this, with red flag coming out just as he crashed due to increasing rain, Waters was still classified in the position.

The result lifts him into the overall top ten of the standings and ahead of experienced team-mate John Hopkins for the first time.

"I was happy again to improve throughout the weekend at Cadwell. To qualify on the second row and then to finish in the top five in both races was really good for me. Cadwell Park is a very unique circuit, so again I was happy to be competitive. Big thanks to my crew and team Tyco Suzuki. Now I'll rest up and recover after my get off and look ahead to Donington Park."
