FIM Superstock 1000 race winner Kevin Valk will make his MCE British Superbike Championship debut at his home Assen round after being snapped up by the Anvil Hire TAG Kawasaki team.
Currently competing in his debut season of SSTK 1000 competition on a Kawasaki, Valk emerged as a surprise race winner at Assen earlier this season after a dominant performance on local ground and is currently eighth in the overall standings with two races remaining.
With the annual BSB jaunt to Assen still three weeks' away, it isn't clear which TAG Kawasaki rider Valk is replacing since both Richard Cooper and Mitchell Carr are currently out of action due to injuries sustained this season.
Nonetheless, Valk is looking forward to making his BSB debut aroun a circuit he has enjoyed much success on in his career to date.
"It is a dream for me to ride in BSB as it is a great championship and the racing is always very close,” he said. “I watch the races at home and am excited about the Assen race because riders like Shakey [Byrne] and Josh [Brookes] are very talented, so this is a great opportunity. For me it is a great chance to show my ability with a good bike and team in front of my home crowd.
"I won my home race in the European Superstock Championship this year and that has been the highlight of my career and now I want to finish in the top ten in the BSB races. I know the track like the back of my hand and the team have a good bike so I want to make a good impression. I want to thank everyone who has made this opportunity possible."
