BSB Donington: ‘Biggest weekend’ beckons for GBmoto Kawasaki

GBmoto Kawasaki is ready to reach a new landmark in the team's history as Chris Walker stands on the cusp of reaching the BSB Title Showdown
GBmoto Kawasaki and Chris Walker head into the ninth round of the 2014 MCE British Superbike Championship at Donington Park on the cusp of securing their place in the Title Showdown for the first time.

A podium finish last time out at Cadwell Park moved Walker comfortably clear of the only two riders mathematically capable of unseating him from his current sixth spot – Stuart Easton and team-mate James Ellison.

Indeed, with Walker armed with a 34 point buffer between himself and Easton, with Ellison waiting in the wings should he get the chance, GBmoto are well placed to make the Title Showdown for the first time having made its BSB debut with Honda machinery in 2012.

The importance of the weekend hasn't been lost on team manager Mark Halvorsen-Smith, who describes the weekend as possible the most important in the team's history.

“This is an important weekend for the Lloyds British GBmoto Kawasaki team, probably the biggest in our history, as we bid to secure our first ever British Superbike Showdown position. Chris has shown everyone this year why he is still one of the best Superbike riders on the grid and he thoroughly deserves to be in the Showdown so we will be doing everything possible to make that happen.”

Should he make the Title Showdown, Walker will secure his first top six overall result in BSB since 2000.

“Donington isn't just one of my favourite circuits in BSB, but in the world! I love the place so I'm really looking forward to getting out there again. We had a really strong round at Cadwell and then a great test at Assen so I'm confident heading into this weekend that we can not only challenge at the front, but also secure my Showdown position.

“The Showdown is definitely the goal this weekend, but that said I want some more podiums so I'll be pushing to get on the box in both races!”

i know is difficult, but hope that Walker, Linfoot and Bridewell could mix in the front at the Showdown, what a shame J. Ellison injury, but great season for both GB Moto team and least one of both will get the showdown...
