TT Circuit Assen: Walker: The gloves are off

Chris Walker: Where we might have not been making as many risks over the last few rounds, the gloves can now come off and we can dig deep and have a go!
BSB veteran Chris Walker has vowed to throw caution to the wind at this weekend's Assen round after making the top-six Title Showdown phase for the first time in his illustrious career.

A four time BSB runner-up, Walker will make his Title Showdown debut at Assen this weekend ensuring he will finish inside the overall BSB top-six for the first time since 2000.

Three-podium finishes and a string of top five results has left the Lloyds British GBmoto Kawasaki rider fifth in the standings with an outside chance of taking a famous title-win, 57-points back from leader Shane Byrne.

“This is it then! The next chapter of the 2014 MCE British Superbike Championship begins here and the Showdown starts for real,” said the 42-year old.

“I'm looking forward to Assen, we've got some settings from our test there after Cadwell but if I'm honest I was taking it pretty carefully as I didn't want to risk anything ahead of Donington so there's certainly still some room for improvement.”

It's also the first appearance Title Showdown for the Lloyd's British GBmoto squad and Walker admits now their season long ambition has finally come into fruition, he is in position to take more risks out on the circuit.

“Our plan all season has been to get into the Showdown and I didn't dare make one for after that in case we didn't get in, so we'll be taking these final three rounds as they come,” Walker continued.

“The main goal though is to score as many points as possible and where we might have not been making as many risks over the last few rounds, the gloves can now come off and we can dig deep and have a go!”

Kiyo: obvious, after last Honda year, and see the swangsong of Haga two ago, is incredible to have a japanese like him in that incredible form, ON A BMW! who dont like? Shakey: obvious. is the dog, lost in 2011 due to ShowDown and lost the last year against A. Lowes. who dont like? Brookes: last year here, great seasons and moments, only lost by no many points in 2012 because Shakey firm 3 wins on last round his home i think, who dont like? what a GREAT show, i win and lose at the same time, but the real spirit is enjoy of that kind of things, ...anyway, GOOD RACES FOR EVERYONE!
