Ryuichi Kiyonari has established himself as the rider to beat ahead of this weekend's penultimate MCE British Superbike Championship round at Silverstone after topping the timesheets again in FP2.

Having held a substantial eight tenths margin over the competition in FP1, though Kiyonari's advantage was whittled down in FP2, he was still just under two tenths up on arch title rival Shane Byrne.

The remainder of the competition was also a fair distance back, with 'Title Fighter' Dan Linfoot third fastest but six tenths adrift, ahead of John Hopkins, Tommy Bridewell and Josh Waters, the latter completing an encouraging day for Tyco Suzuki.

James Westmoreland made it two Buildbase BMWs inside the top ten in seventh, ahead of Josh Brookes – who has been linked to a WSBK ride next season-, Peter Hickman and Stuart Easton.

Things are getting interesting. RK23 seems to have a serious head of steam. Kiyo may very well overtake shakey and win this thing but as @stuart brunt pointed out, what's the point of dominating the series only to have your dominance negated in the "showdown". Needs some tweaking IMHO. Kiyonari should get back into WSBK.
