Filip Backlund feels he is well prepared for his first full season in British Superbikes thanks to his experience of racing in the final four rounds last year, after securing a ride with Anvil Hire TAG Kawasaki for 2015.

The Swedish rider spent two successful years in the National Superstock 1000, finishing third in 2013, before he made the jump to British Superbikes for the last four rounds of 2014 with FFX Yamaha.

Backlund believes his time with FFX Yamaha, highlighted by a ninth-place finish in Assen, has helped him prepare better for 2015.

"It was a good experience for me to make the move to Superbike last year and that knowledge will help me in my first full season in the class," Backlund said. "In a short time I got to see how it felt to be riding a real superbike and how it differs. I could see that I needed to change my training programme and that means I will be better prepared for this season."

Backlund will join team-mate Richard Cooper and Shaun Winfield at TAG Kawasaki and the Swede becomes the sixth different nationality on the 2015 BSB grid.

"I am very happy to be joining the Anvil Hire TAG Racing team," Backlund added. "They had a very impressive debut season and I am sure that they will be even stronger with that experience behind them. It feels great to be back on a Kawasaki as it's a bike I have ridden for some years now and I know its general feeling and how to ride it."

Backlund has previous experience of the Kawasaki in the Superstock 1000 championship, picking up six podium finishes, including victory at Silverstone.

"I'm now waiting to get testing started and to be on a race bike again," Backlund said. "We will be aiming to make the Showdown this year, but ultimately I go racing to win and to be on the podium and that is always my goal."
