Ryuichi Kiyonari has been forced to miss the Spanish pre-season tests after problems sorting his visa to travel back from Japan and will instead test at Brands Hatch on the 13th March.

The Buildbase BMW rider, who finished runner-up in the MCE British Superbike championship last season, was confirmed as an absentee from the team's Spanish tests in Almeria between the 2-4 March, with team-mate Lee Jackson working as the lone BMW rider.

The 32-year-old Japanese rider will now lose valuable testing time to all his rivals including last season's BSB champion Shane Byrne, who will have tested his Kawasaki ZX10-R at least three times before Kiyonari gets a first chance on the S1000RR. Despite this team boss Steve Hicken isn't too concerned about the catch-up work needed.

"We've known for a while that there was a chance he wouldn't be here and we've now arranged for him to get to the UK on March 12th", Hicken said. "We'll test at Brands on the 13th, Mallory on the 18th and Donington on the 26th."

Jackson and the Buildbase BMW team will complete the three-day test in Spain before returning to the UK for further tests ahead of the season-opener at Donington Park over the Easter weekend.
