Luke Mossey has got heads turning to his direction after the rookie came to within 0.1s of the lap record at Cartagena during pre-season testing ahead of the new MCE British Superbike season.

The Quattro Plant Kawasaki rider notched up a 1m 33.0s lap at the Spanish track, narrowly missing out on the BSB record set by former champion Tommy Hill back in 2011. Mossey says the improvements in lap times was down to him gaining confidence and feeling with the Kawasaki Superbike with a fresh tyre.

He will now complete the test in Cartagena before return to the UK to prepare for the official test day at Donington Park on the 26th March.

"It has all been good again," Mossey explained to Britishsuperbike.com. "We still didn't change anything from yesterday in terms of settings, we just put in a new race tyre to see what we could do, so it was a bit of a bonus to do the time because we didn't have to do that with the other tyre. It has been a good test, so I feel ready for the next one at Donington now."
