Gearlink Kawasaki's Joe Burns feels his team has created a strong platform to work from as they head to the official MCE British Superbike test day at Donington Park next week.

The 22-year-old is preparing for his debut BSB campaign after joining the Kawasaki outfit during the winter and enjoyed a productive pre-season test at Mallory Park on Wednesday (18th March). The Newcastle rider got to grips with a range of new parts as he dialled in the ZX-10R for the 2015 season.

"Yesterday's test was extremely constructive. We tried a new swingarm, along with various geometries and engine management strategies and found some considerable improvements in the Gearlink Kawasaki," Burns told BritishSuperbike.com. "This has given us a really good base setting to take on to next Thursday's official test at Donington Park, where we have some things to test which should see us moving much further forward with the performance of the bike."

The young rider has spent the past five seasons racing in the National Superstock 1000 series, finishing joint-seventh in 2014.

Burns is very familiar with the Kawasaki ZX-10R after competing with the bike in Superstock. The official BSB test will provide the first direct comparison for the rider against his competitors on similar ZX-10Rs.
