MCE British Superbike's qualifying format is set to challenge riders even more in 2015 after it was revealed only the top 30 riders would progress to the Datatag Extreme Qualifying.

The partnership between Datatag and BSB's commercial rights holder MSV has extended into a fourth consecutive season and sees the continuation of the three-stage knockout qualifying session. With the BSB grid expanding to 40 riders in 2015, only the top 30 will progress into the battle for pole position.

Therefore, riders will have to be quick from the start as their free practice session lap times will be used to decide the top 30 riders who will make it into qualifying.

In a repeat on previous years, Datatag Extreme Qualifying will be split into three sessions, with the bottom ten riders being eliminated in Q1 and Q2 to leave the top ten to fight for pole position.

BSB series director Stuart Higgs said: "It is fantastic that market-leading Datatag will continue their partnership into the 2015 season, particularly as this year there is an even bigger focus on qualifying."
