The MCE British Superbike Championship is set to launch the inaugural R&G Rookies' Trophy ahead of the 2015 season opener at Donington Park.

The brand new competition will be open to all rookies in BSB and its supporting classes with the winner receiving the first R&G Rookies' Trophy and a place at the California Superbike School at Silverstone.

At the end of each round rookies will be awarded points for the Rookies' ranking system and in addition a winner and two runners-up will be selected on merit by the TV commentary team, including former British champion Jamie Whitham.

The competition is open all rookies in BSB, British Supersport, British Motostar, 1000 and 600 National Superstock, Ducati TriOptions Cup and the British Junior Cup classes.

British Superbike series director Stuart Higgs feels the competition will act as an extra incentive for all the rookie riders in 2015.

"We're very pleased to be incorporating the R&G Rookies' Trophy into an already exciting 2015 series," Higgs said. "The timing is perfect, as this season sees an impressive line-up of new riders joining the paddock or taking the step up into another Championship, so the R&G Rookies' Trophy will certainly provide an added incentive for them."

"The R&G Rookies' Trophy is an exciting concept which continues our ethos of helping young and up-and-coming riders both with product and recognition," R&G UK sales manager Alan Garrett added.
