James Ellison says he is under no pressure despite the high expectations placed on him going into round three of the MCE British Superbike championship

The Cumbrian rider has won three of the opening four BSB races in 2015 but trails reigning champion Shane Byrne in the riders' standings by six points. After his first ever double-winner last time out at Brands Hatch, Ellison is full of confidence heading to his most preferred BSB track Oulton Park.

Ellison says people are already making him favourite again for race victories at the Cheshire track after his total dominance at Brands Hatch, where he rode flawlessly to grab pole position and two wins.

"I love Oulton Park, it's my favourite circuit on the calendar," Ellison said. "I missed the second meeting last year with the injury so I'm really looking forward to racing there on the Kawasaki again.

"After winning three races already this year, there is certainly a lot of expectation from people for us to repeat it at Oulton but I'm not feeling the pressure. We're in a really good place with the bike and team at the moment, so if we can run at the front again and walk away with two podiums I'll be very happy."

Ellison and the majority of the BSB grid ran a one-day mid-season test at Oulton Park last Friday. The JG Speedfit Kawaski rider notched up the third-fastest time, a 1m 35.083s, behind Josh Brookes and Byrne.

Brookes and Byrne will be the riders to beat at Oulton after the pair finished on the podium in every one of the five BSB races in 2014 (two races in round two, three races in round seven).

"The test we had at Oulton last week was really positive and it was great to be on the pace and lapping under the existing lap record," Ellison said. "Although I wasn't able to quite break into the 1m 34s lap, I just got caught up in traffic, but our ideal lap time showed we could do it. I'm confident we'll be up there from opening practice."

Oulton Park will host round three of the BSB championship, scheduled for the 2-4 May.
