Josh Brookes says the two-day test at Snetterton has been 'perfect' for his Milwaukee Yamaha team after smashing the lap record by over a second.

The Australian rider, who is currently third in the MCE British Superbike championship standings, was the dominant force at the Norfolk circuit after breaking his previous lap record by a whopping 1.021s.

Brookes says his Milwaukee Yamaha team achieved all its targets with the YZF-R1 and have been delighted by the results.

"It has been a perfect test in terms of what we have tested, the lap times, the tyre wear, the conditions," Brookes said. "We were able to put a few little pieces together that were better than what we had previously, so when we went out on new tyres the bike had improved on what we had yesterday, so we could do a better lap time and make it into the 1m 46s."

Reigning British Superbike champion Shane Byrne was Brookes' closest competitor over the two days but ended the test over half a second down, narrowly edging out current championship leader James Ellison.

The chasing pack will now be focusing on closing the gap on Brookes ahead of round four of the 2015 championship, which is scheduled at the same venue on the 19-21 June.

"It was a really valuable test for us as a team so we are ready for the next round," Brookes added. "I even had my first crash of the season, although it was a tiny little slip off at the hairpin to get that out of the way."
