The MCE British Superbike championship is preparing for an unusual mix-up in race two at Brands Hatch this weekend - with double points, a huge ?50,000 cash prize and a unique title up for grabs.

In a one-off which will apply to the top three starters, each will be given the choice to either take up their grid positions or take a risk and line up on the final row of the grid. If they opt to start from last they will be given the opportunity to blast from last to first and replicate the famous achievement by Neil Hodgson from Oulton Park in 2000.

If any of the riders do accept the unique challenge the highest placed competitor will win an 'MCE BSB - Monster Energy King of Brands' trophy and if they were to win race two they would collect the ?50,000 prize. Second place would receive ?25,000 and third ?10,000. Only the top-three riders will be eligible for the top-three bonus money but any rider which accepts the challenge will receive ?5,000.

In addition to this, double main season championship points will be handed out to challengers, while regular podium points will remain the same.

Saturday's Datatag Extreme Qualifying will take place like normal to order the grid for race one, while the fastest lap classification in race one will still establish the provisional grid for race two, unless any of the riders choose to take on the challenge.

The riders should refuse to play ball. The whole idea is ridiculous and dangerous.
