Josh Brookes says the need for MCE British Superbike race victories is higher than ever for his Milwaukee Yamaha team and that is his only goal heading to Brands Hatch this weekend.

The Australian rider has notched up nine podium finishes in the opening ten rounds this season, with his only non-rostrum result a fourth place at Donington Park, but is yet to taste victory in 2015.

Brookes says he's had in-depth talks with team principal Shaun Muir and his crew to come up with a plan of action to make the required improvements to reach the top step of the podium.

"I looked at the points after Knockhill and the urgency to win has become more noticeable - we need to do whatever it is we need to in order to make a change that brings a better result," Brookes said. "We know we have been making steps forward, but we need to keep pushing for more improvements.

"I checked in with the team last week and we have been looking at how we can improve and have been looking at a plan for Brands Hatch. For example making the bike wheelie less as this was one of the issues we had at Knockhill due to the nature of the track, and changing the weight distribution.

"I believe we can be stronger at Brands Hatch and we need to be fighting for the wins now, podiums are good for the championship but we definitely need more than that before the Showdown."

The absence of race wins is beginning to have a negative effect on Brookes' position entering the BSB Showdown. The Australian has accumulated 15 podium points, while JG Speedfit Kawasaki's James Ellison has 18 and championship leader Shane Byrne has a healthy lead with 35.

With one eye on the season finale Brookes is eager to reduce the deficit and feels Brands Hatch is an ideal place to start.

"I am looking forward to Brands Hatch as I feel really positive about going there," he explained. "I am definitely feeling more confident about Brands Hatch, even on the Indy circuit which is shorter and has corners like Druids the bike felt good so I think we have a better potential for this weekend."
