Luke Mossey says he is feeling like an alien after grabbing his maiden front row qualifying result in the MCE British Superbike championship.

The Quattro Plant Kawasaki rider converted his impressive free practice form into a third place start for tomorrow's race one at Thruxton to record his best qualifying result in BSB.

The 24-year-old, who graduated from British Supersport last year, says his team's efforts have finally started to show as both he and team-mate Howie Mainwaring Smart progressed into Q3.

"It is definitely a bit alienating to be top three," Mossey said. "The last couple of rounds we have been trying to find our feet and at the start of the year we were chasing it when it wasn't coming together. But now it has come to us while still trying a lot of things."

Mossey is targeting a career best result at the Thruxton circuit and hopes to steer clear of any trouble in the midfield and run with Josh Brookes and John Hopkins, who start race one from pole and second place respectively.

"I know tomorrow is going to be hard but I am feeling good and we've been strong all weekend," he added. "So we will try to get away with the front boys and if we can get a top five I'll be over the moon."
