James Ellison felt it was a case of mission accomplished after securing a Showdown spot by just one point in the opening race of the triple-header at Oulton Park.

The JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider made an impressive comeback from injury after breaking his wrist in a crash at Thruxton last month with second place at the Cheshire track and as a result books his place in the Showdown and joins Josh Brookes and Shane Byrne.

Ellison says he's delighted to get the job done in Saturday's race which has taken the pressure off him for Sunday's final two races before the Showdown takes effect.

"We had that in mind and went for it. Now we've got two races to go and we are in Showdown. The team is chuffed to bits."
