James Westmoreland and JG Speedfit Kawasaki have parted company with immediate effect in Assen.

Westmoreland, who joined GBmoto at the start of 2015, has come under pressure after struggling to match the results of his team-mate James Ellison, who has reached the Showdown. The British rider did contest FP1 in Assen this morning, ending the session 23rd quickest, but will take no further part in this weekend's action.

No reason has yet been given for the sudden split but the team says it was on good terms.

"The split is entirely amicable and the whole team would like to thank James for all his hard work throughout the season," a GBmoto team statement read.

Westmoreland grabbed his maiden MCE British Superbike podium earlier this year at Thruxton but has been unable to challenge consistently at the sharp end. The Yorkshire rider missed out on the Showdown at Oulton Park and is currently 16th in the BSB riders' standings on 66 points, equal with Buildbase BMW's Ryuichi Kiyonari.
