Lee Jackson has re-signed with the Buildbase BMW squad for the 2016 MCE British Superbike championship, the day after taking his career-best result of fifth place at Brands Hatch.

The Lincolnshire rider made the full-time step up to the British Superbike category this season after graduating from the Superstock 1000 championship and has enjoyed a productive rookie season with consistent points finishes.

Under the guidance of Steve Hicken the 20-year-old has broken into the top ten during the second half of the season, with his best result of fifth place coming in the opening race of the season finale triple-header on Saturday at the Kent circuit.

With two races remaining in 2015 Jackson sits 15th in the riders' standings.

Jackson says he's delighted to stay with the Buildbase BMW squad for a second consecutive season and is relishing his opportunity to continue his development.

"I'm really happy to be staying with Buildbase BMW next year," Jackson said. "We've got a great team here with an awesome package with the BMW S1000RR. We've had a good year, but as a rider I'm always looking for better results and I feel that next year, with a season under my belt, we can push on further towards the top six."

Team manager Steve Hicken has been thrilled by the progress his young rider has made over the course of his rookie year and is optimistic for next season.

"Considering he only turned 20 a couple of weeks ago, Lee has had a brilliant season this year," Hicken said. "He's one of the youngest riders on the grid and has shown himself to be a top ten challenger and even been fighting for top six positions this year. He's developed a lot as a rider throughout the year, found some consistency and each weekend he takes another step forward."

The team also confirmed its second rider for 2016 will be announced in the coming weeks.
