GBmoto Racing signs three-year deal as official Kawasaki team

GBmoto Racing has secured a new three-year partnership deal with Kawasaki as the manufacturer's official team in BSB and Road Racing
GBmoto Racing has secured a new three-year partnership deal with Kawasaki as the manufacturer's official team in the MCE British Superbike championship, as well as at the North West 200, Isle of Man TT and Ulster GP.

The team – which runs under the JG Speedfit Kawasaki banner – will receive the all-new Kawasaki ZX-10R in the coming weeks as they join up with the manufacturer at the official winter tests. The new deal sees the team become the official Kawasaki Superbike team in the UK and will also enjoy full factory support from Kawasaki Europe.

James Ellison plus GBmoto's new rider for 2016, who is due to be unveiled in the next few weeks, will join the Kawasaki Racing Team of Tom Sykes and World Superbike champion Jonathan Rea for a two-day test at Aragon followed by a further four days at Jerez.

GBmoto Racing team principal Mark Smith-Halvorsen has expressed his pride at securing the partnership with Kawasaki and is confident the new ZX-10R can have a similar impact in BSB as the new Yamaha R1 which stormed to the title with Milwaukee Yamaha and Josh Brookes.

“This is an incredibly proud moment for GBmoto as we take yet another step forward,” Smith-Halvorsen said. “From the very beginning, our partnership with Kawasaki has yielded success and I'm excited to be strengthening this relationship with closer links to the factory and the Kawasaki Racing Team for next three years.

“The JG Speedfit Kawasaki team had an incredible year in BSB and if it wasn't for some bad luck I think we could have been celebrating many more wins. However, the new ZX-10R is a weapon in waiting and I'm confident that with the extensive testing programme we have in place for the winter months, we'll hit the ground running in 2016 as we look to not just secure our maiden British Superbike title but also our first major Road Race victory.”

Ross Burridge, senior racing and marketing co-ordinator at KMUK, is delighted to secure the services of GBmoto Racing having lost ties with fellow BSB team Paul Bird Motorsport last month as it switched to Ducati machinery.

“I'm really excited to be continuing with GBmoto team for the next three years,” Burridge said. “The entire team works at an incredibly professional level and their desire to succeed is second to none. It's been a very successful two years on-track, whilst the team has also done their upmost to support us off-track as part of our wider marketing aspects.

“For 2016, GBmoto are now our sole official Superbike team for the first time which means they will not just enjoy much closer links to the factory, but also the World Superbike team. It's a new phase for Kawasaki with our latest ZX-10R and I personally can't think of a better group of people to be working with.”

Well done MS-H and the team, well deserved, they came across as very professional this year. Hope Mossey gets the 2nd seat, he was a revelation this year and I'd like to see him get a good bike for 2016.
