Haslam shakes off testing crash

Leon Haslam has shrugged off a crash during pre-season testing at Aragon with new team JG Speedfit Kawasaki and is confident the work over the winter will produce the results at the start of the 2016 MCE British Superbike championship.

The 32-year-old partnered BSB team-mates James Ellison and Peter Hickman at a two-day test at Aragon and had to battle windy conditions on the opening which forced him into a small tumble. Dusting himself down, Haslam says the off didn't cause too much of a concern and leaves Spain satisfied with the data and work completed on the new ZX-10R.

“I am feeling pretty positive,” Haslam said. “I had a bit of a big crash on day one here with the high winds, but the boys worked really well to get me back out for the afternoon which was great.

“Day two has been positive; I got the times down and have been working on the chassis mainly. I am feeling pretty happy, James and Peter have been working with the 2016 electronics, and hopefully from the next test at Cartagena we can put it all together ready for when the season starts.”

Haslam and JG Speedfit Kawasaki will now return home to collate the data and information gained from Aragon and the January test at Jerez before heading back out to Spain for a final stint of pre-season testing at Cartagena.

Haslam is preparing for his return to BSB after a seven-year stint in World Superbikes as he targets a maiden championship crown in 2016.
