Leon Haslam has enjoyed the best of the running during the midday session at the Silverstone test day by taking top spot narrowly ahead of Jakub Smrz while track conditions remained very low.

The new JG Speedfit Kawasaki recruit appears to have adapted to the new Kawasaki ZX-10R with ease at the Northamptonshire circuit and despite none of the MCE British Superbike riders challenging any lap records – largely down the circuit conditions and the need to avoid crashing with the opener just over a week away – Haslam demonstrated a strong pace to lead proceedings.

The former World Superbike contender pinched top spot from Smiths Racing's Jakub Smrz, who continued to impress while adjusting to the BMW S1000RR machine, with Quattro Plant Kawasaki's Filip Backlund jumping taking third overall in the second session.

Opening session topper Ryuichi Kiyonari settled in fourth place ahead of Honda's Dan Linfoot. Luke Mossey continued to impress by taking sixth spot ahead of Christian Iddon, Shane Byrne and Michael Laverty with Tommy Bridewell rounding out the top ten.
