Billy McConnell has parted company from Anvil Hire Yamaha in a mutual agreement with immediate effect.
Billy McConnell has parted company from Anvil Hire Yamaha in a mutual agreement with immediate effect.

The news comes a day after the official MCE British Superbike test day at Silverstone where McConnell completed a full programme alongside team-mates James Rispoli and Shaun Winfield.

According to the team, the 2014 British Supersport champion 'leaves due to personal reasons, however departs on good and harmonious terms'.

“Anvil Hire Yamaha would like to put on record our thanks to Billy for all his hard work, and we would like to wish him all the best in the future,” the team statement added.

The team has also confirmed it will begin its search for a replacement rider while continuing to run a two-bike setup with Rispoli and Winfield.

The 2016 BSB season opener is scheduled for the 8-10 April at Silverstone.

It would be interesting to know what really went on here and what actually caused Billy to part company them? They (Anvil Tag) who were then Anvil Tag Kawasaki, got rid of Richard Cooper last year midway through the season when he was riding really well and getting some good results, something seems not quite right within that team????
