Michael Laverty has led proceedings in the opening session of the final pre-season test ahead of the 2016 MCE British Superbike championship at Donington Park, heading a Tyco BMW one-two.
After a flurry of late improvements in the morning session Laverty nipped ahead of new team-mate Christian Iddon by just over two-tenths, with Quattro Plant Kawasaki's Luke Mossey holding on to third.
Having claimed the fastest lap time at the Silverstone test on Tuesday the JG Speedfit Kawasaki crew opted to sit out the Donington Park test, as well as Tommy Hill's ePayMe Yamaha and Buildbase BMW, which meant a full representation of the BSB pecking order cannot be shown by the time screens today.
With track conditions much friendlier than Tuesday's test at Silverstone the teams got up to speed almost instantly and times duly tumbled throughout the opening session. Quattro Plant Kawasaki's Mossey became the first rider to duck into the 1m 30s bracket at the midway point while new rider Matej Smrz suffered a small off at the hairpin.
As the session ticked into the final minutes a number of riders went for hot lap blasts with both Tyco BMW riders rising to the top. Laverty displaced new team-mate Iddon in the final 60 seconds to make up for losing top spot at Silverstone on the final lap to Leon Haslam.
Honda Racing's Jason O'Halloran nipped into fourth ahead of Lloyds British Moto Rapido's Danny Buchan. Jakub Smrz ended the session in a Ducati sandwich with Be Wiser Ducati's Shane Byrne taking seventh, ahead of Bennetts Suzuki's Tommy Bridewell and Ryuichi Kiyonari as Dan Linfoot rounded out the top ten.
