Silverstone: Chatter prevents Kiyonari charge

Ryuichi Kiyonari says problems with chatter from his Bennetts Suzuki denied him the opportunity to take his charge towards the front.
Ryuichi Kiyonari says problems with chatter from his Bennetts Suzuki denied him the opportunity to take his charge towards the front-runners but feels the full potential with the GSX-R1000 is yet to come.

The three-time British Superbike champion made his competitive debut with Suzuki in the national series at the 2016 season opener and leaves Silverstone with an upbeat frame of mind despite narrowly missing out on the top ten in both races.

After working his way up to seventh in race one Kiyonari had been battling with chatter and then made a mistake to drop to 11th and despite making adjustments for race two couldn't improve his result to finish 12th.

"We struggled with some chatter, which mean't I couldn't push as hard as I would have liked,” Kiyonari said. “In race one our times were still quite good and I could have had a seventh before I made a slight mistake. For race two we made some suspension changes to see if we could cure the chatter, but it didn't work as we would have liked.

“It's not a great weekend for the results, but I'm still positive and can feel the potential. Mid-corner and coming out of the corner the bike is really good. We need to work on being further up the grid at the start of the race, and once we have sorted the chatter issue I know we can run nearer the front."

MrQwerty: Still outpaced Bridewell over the weekend so he's riding better than last year, so far anyway.
Agree. Think Bridewell may be the sort who needs a set-up to be spot-on, rather than "that'll do" and riding round issues. Hope not, I'd like to see him stick with one team and get some decent results. Be keeping an eye on Kiyo, looked good till those couple of mistakes, let's see if he can get back on form
