Despite a solid start to his 2016 MCE British Superbike campaign Jason O'Halloran is targeting the podium after challenging on the cusp at Silverstone.

The Australian rider sits fifth in the BSB riders' championship after finishing sixth and fourth at the season opener three weeks ago and is aiming for an upward trend at Oulton Park to bridge the gap to the podium.

O'Halloran, who missed out on the rostrum in race two by less than half a second after Christian Iddon's time penalty, has been given an extra confidence boost after productive tests on the Honda Fireblade CBR1000RR and is duly focusing on a return to the rostrum for the first time since Snetterton last year.

"We had a really positive test last week and it was great to be able to get out on the track a week before the round," O'Halloran said. "We made a slight improvement with the machine and I feel we've now got good pace for the weekend and hopefully we'll be able to pick up where we left off at Silverstone, build on that result and see if we can get on the podium sooner rather than later.

"I always enjoy riding at Oulton Park, it's a great circuit and the atmosphere with the crowd is always good. I have enjoyed past results there and have happy memories from riding the Fireblade at the races last year."
