Shane Byrne has made the most of the early running to take an advantage over the chasing pack at Oulton Park, ending FP1 with almost a full second lead on nearest challenger Leon Haslam.

The four-time BSB champion began his work at the Cheshire track in thumping form with a lap which saw him jump to the top of the timesheet by well over two seconds.

Despite only marginally improving his lap time Byrne comfortably held the quickest time for Be Wiser Ducati with Haslam closing the gap to 0.822s as the chequered flag fell on the morning session.

After his double third place at Silverstone, Christian Iddon once again found himself in third in the opening session narrowly ahead of James Ellison as early leader Ryuichi Kiyonari ended the session in fifth.

John Hopkins enjoyed a positive session on the ePayMe Yamaha with sxith place ahead of Northern Irish duo Alastair Seeley and Glenn Irwin as Howie Mainwaring Smart and Michael Laverty rounded out the top ten.
