Jason O'Halloran has rated his race weekend at Brands Hatch Indy as 'not the best but not the worst' as he battled tyre wear but was happy to maintain his place in the top six Showdown spots.

The Honda Racing rider struggled to find the consistency to take his charge to the front-runners but a conservative approach saw him claim an eighth and a sixth place in the two races around the 1.2-mile Indy configuration of Brands Hatch track.

The Australian had been managing tyre wear and grip issues throughout in both races but was content with two points finishes to keep hold of sixth pace in the MCE British Superbike riders' championship.

"An eighth and a sixth, not the best day but not the worst day and we've gathered some more points to keep us up there," O'Halloran said. "I struggled with grip today and felt like I was managing the tyre really early in the race and felt in the second half of the race I was similar to the leaders but I'd lost too much in the first half.

"We now have a little bit of work to do on rear grip, but I am back in the top-six in the championship, which is a positive and in the second race I was only 3.5 seconds off the winner so it's not the end of the world.

"We definitely have potential to push hard and be in the front mix, we just need a little rethink with the feeling and hope to come back stronger at Knockhill."

O'Halloran holds a slender two-point advantage over JG Speedfit Kawasaki's James Ellison for the final Showdown spot heading into the mid-season break before racing resumes at Knockhill on the 24-26 June.
