Brands Hatch Grand Prix: JG Speedfit Kawasaki appoint Terry Rymer as team manager

JG Speedfit Kawasaki has bolstered its management with the appointment of Terry Rymer as race team manager for the remainder of 2016.
JG Speedfit Kawasaki has bolstered its management with the appointment of Terry Rymer as race team manager for the remainder of the 2016 MCE British Superbike championship, as the team aims to get its campaign back on track at Brands Hatch.

Rymer, former British and European Superbike title winner and Endurance World champion, will join the team for the first time at round seven this weekend to oversee the running of JG Speedfit Kawasaki which has struggled lately fine tuning the new Kawasaki ZX-10R with each of its riders missing out on the rostrum at Thruxton.

In addition to Rymer's appointment, the GBmoto Racing-run squad has confirmed it has identified the issues which have plagued its recent progress for its trio of riders James Ellison, Leon Haslam and Peter Hickman over the past two rounds and run 'extensive dyno and electronic development' since the last round at Thruxton.

As well as batting tyre degradation issues along with the majority of the BSB field at the Hampshire circuit, the factory-supported Kawasaki squad has been hampered by engine trouble but the team is confident of overcoming it after Ellison undertook private tests ahead of Brands Hatch this weekend.



GBmoto Racing team principal Mark Smith-Halvorsen says the squad has been working tirelessly to understand its recent problems and is confident of a return to form at Brands Hatch where he will also welcome Rymer into the fold.

“The last couple of rounds have seen us effectively fall back, ironically as a result of trying to move forward and not been reflective of what we or our riders are capable of,” Smith-Halvorsen said. “We've been working around the clock to identify and solve the problems we've had and I believe this weekend will see the three JG Speedfit Kawasaki's back where they belong; running at the front of a British Superbike race.

“We'll also be welcoming Terry Rymer to the GBmoto family as Race Team Manager. His racing success, both as a racer and team Manager are well documented and I believe his experience and skills will allow us to better coordinate our efforts and maximise our results.”
