Shane Byrne is relishing the opportunity of putting the disappointment of Thruxton in the past on his return to his home round at Brands Hatch, while the recent Be Wiser Ducati test at Cadwell Park has given the four-time champion an extra boost.

The MCE British Superbike championship leader had felt confident of a double victory weekend last time out at Thruxton but a broken gear lever in the opening stages of race two forced his charge into a premature end.

Byrne, who still extended his lead in the riders' standings to 15 points at the Hampshire circuit, is once again targeting the top step of the rostrum and has been given renewed encouragement with the development of the Ducati Panigale R after a test at Cadwell Park last week.

"We can't spend time looking back at what could've been at Thruxton, we now work harder, we test more and we train harder to make sure we're in the best shape to make it happen at the next round instead which just so happens to be one of my favourite tracks in the world," Byrne said.

"Brands Hatch GP is practically in my back garden and I love it there, and had a lot of success over the years. We've tested up at Cadwell Park since Thruxton and made some progress so as ever I'm raring to get out and hope to pull off a win or two this weekend."
