Shane Byrne is hoping to use his recent momentum in the MCE British Superbike championship to break his winning duck at Cadwell Park which stretches back to 13 years.

Since making significant development strides with the Be Wiser Ducati, Byrne has claimed six wins over the past nine races to give him a useful lead in both the BSB riders' championship and the battle for podium credits.

Despite holding the honour of the most BSB career race wins, currently standing at 74 victories after his dominant double at Brands Hatch, Byrne hasn't stood upon the top step of the rostrum at the Lincolnshire circuit since 2003 and is keen to change that this Bank Holiday Weekend.

"I'm really looking forward to coming back over to race at Cadwell Park as it's a track I generally really enjoy," Byrne said. "We had a test there recently and whilst we only got a couple of hours on two evenings, not the two days of some of our rivals, we certainly seem to have got somewhere near where it seems we need to be and definitely have plans to move things forward further."

With a wealth of experience at Cadwell Park, Byrne is targeting qualifying as the key to a strong round due to the tight and twisty nature of the circuit which can make overtaking opportunities difficult to carve out.

"Cadwell is a pretty unique place; it's very narrow and tight so getting our work done as quickly as possible and qualifying well will be very important," he said. "This weekend there is another 50 points and 10 podium points up for grabs. I'm not greedy but I'd happily accept all of those."
