JG Speedfit Kawasaki team principal Mark Smith-Halvorsen says he's thrilled to achieve an all-time goal of a podium lockout as the squad aims to build towards getting all three riders into the Showdown.

The team boss hailed the first 1-2-3 result in BSB a 'dream' after seeing Leon Haslam claim victory to close up to seven podium points behind Shane Byrne at the top of the standings while getting James Ellison a step closer to securing his top six place and Peter Hickman to move within 11 points of the Showdown spots.

Having taken on the challenge for refining the new Kawasaki ZX-10R into a title contender in 2016, the GBmoto Racing-run squad has hit hurdles with throttle connection and a smooth power delivery but Smith-Halvorsen feels the historic result is evidence of the progress the team has made with the development of the bike.

“It is a dream come true. It doesn't come any better than that,” Smith-Halvorsen said. “We've dreamt about front row lockouts and a podium lockout, plus our job is to get the guys all in the Showdown. We've achieve one of those and moved a step closer to the others.

“A massive thanks and huge congratulations has to go to the team because they've put in so much hard work to make this bike competitive. Long may it continue as we prepare for the fight to the end.

“It is about throttle connection with this bike and it is not right yet but it is better. We've got parts of the package working really nicely and now it is time to focus on smoothing out the creases.”

Having achieved the historic result, Smith-Halvorsen says the team will keep the celebrations low until tomorrow night with the goal of getting both Ellison and Hickman in the final Showdown spots.

“We are all over the moon at the moment but tonight it will be debriefs as we know we've got a tough job on tomorrow as everybody will improve and we will have to as well,” he said.
