John Hopkins has stormed to the front in FP3 by setting the fastest ever lap in British Superbikes at Donington Park on the ePayMe Yamaha.

The American rider bolted to the front in the final five minutes with a 1m 28.856s to nip ahead of BSB title contender Shane Byrne by two-tenths to top the first session for Tommy Hill's ePayMe Yamaha squad.

Peter Hickman also produced a late flyer to rise to third on the JG Speedfit Kawasaki ahead of a trio of Showdown contenders Luke Mossey, Leon Haslam and Dan Linfoot.

Richard Cooper on the Buildbase BMW improved to seventh after Friday's fastest rider Christian Iddon low-sided at Goddards midway through the session.

With Showdown contender Jason O'Halloran ninth Bennetts Suzuki's Tommy Bridewell completed the top ten. Despite making a strong start in FP3 final Showdown contender James Ellison crashed out at the Fogarty Esses early in the session which saw him fall down to 16th fastest.
