Dan Linfoot has started sharpest at the Assen TT circuit from Tyco BMW's Christian Iddon as the MCE British Superbike grid gets up to speed in the Netherlands.

After Shane Byrne set the early pace on the Be Wiser Ducati the relatively low key opening practice session sparked up with Iddon and Linfoot nipping ahead into the low 1m 37s.

Honda's Linfoot set the benchmark with a 1m 37.360s to stay in front of Iddon and the current BSB championship leader.

Buildbase BMW's Richard Cooper claimed fourth on the timesheet two-tenths off Byrne ahead of the second Be Wiser Ducati of Glenn Irwin and Showdown contender Luke Mossey.

ePayMe Yamaha's John Hopkins finished the session seventh in front of JG Speedfit Kawasaki's Leon Haslam as Jakub Smrz and Michael Laverty completed the top ten.

Fellow Showdown contenders James Ellison and Jason O'Halloran made a slower start to the Assen race weekend with the JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider in 16th and Honda's Australian rider down in 20th.
