After building year-on-year in the MCE British Superbike championship, Luke Mossey is targeting his first race wins in the series next year to fuel a potential title tilt with Bournemouth Kawasaki.

The 24-year-old rider has been retained for a third consecutive BSB campaign in 2017 after securing the Riders' Cup in his rookie year before breaking into the Showdown on his way to finish sixth in the championship last season.

Mossey grabbed four podium results in 2016 along with four pole positions but remained just one of two riders inside the top eight to fail to reach the top step of the rostrum all year.

That is something Mossey is eager to amend next year and feels he can continue his upward momentum in the series for a third straight year with the team.

"I am over the moon to be staying with the team for a third season, we have built up a really good relationship and that is so important," Mossey said. "It means we can really hit the ground running when we start testing and we already have a good idea of where we need to start.

"We start in a really good position and without a shadow of a doubt I want to step up again next year and now we have been in the Showdown, we need to improve on that. I feel that I have got the pace to fight for more podiums next season; we just need to work on consistency.

"We didn't quite get that first race win in Superbikes this year which was annoying, so that is my first target and then we want to be pushing to be better than this season."

Mossey will be joined by former World Superbike star Leon Haslam at Bournemouth Kawasaki in 2017 and the young British rider is keen to learn and be competitive against his new team-mate in his aspirations of a BSB title.

"I am really looking forward to working alongside Leon," he said. "It will be great to have such an experienced rider in the garage. I'm hoping I will learn a lot from him, but at the same time, he's another rider that I want to beat in races as I target the BSB title."
