HM Plant Honda team manager Havier Beltran has spoken of his pleasure at seeing Leon Haslam finally break his victory duck with the team at Knockhill.

Haslam has endured a highly publicised struggle with the four-cylinder Honda machine since his switch from the Ducati, but following a good run in the Suzuka 8 Hours two weeks ago, came to Knockhill full of confidence.

Taking pole position for the two races, although a mechanical problem stymied his efforts in the first event, Haslam inherited victory in the second when Shane Byrne suffered a heavy fall in the latter stages of the race.

His first win of a season that many had predicted would yield a long-awaited BSB title, Beltran was pleased to see his rider finally get on top of the podium.

"I'm really pleased for Leon he worked hard all weekend and has really gone from strength to strength. I think with both our riders their experience at the Suzuka 8-hour has helped them and Leon in particular is feeling more confident in the front-end of the HM Plant Honda Fireblade.

"It's a shame he had the technical problem in the first race, but he did the right thing with the misfire and was coasting round to enter the pits when he had the coming together with Shakey and down he went."
