Tom Sykes completed the first day of free practice for the latest round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship with another fastest time in the second session.
Eyeing his fourth win in three meetings this weekend, the increasingly confident Sykes held the top spot for most of the afternoon and although Leon Haslam usurped him briefly with ten minutes to go, Sykes's last effort of 1min 27.945secs was more than enough to keep him at the top of the timesheets.
The only rider to dip below the 1min 28secs mark, Sykes edged ahead of Haslam, the HM Plant Honda rider bouncing back from a heavy fall in the morning session to keep himself well in the mix.
Shane Byrne maintained his continued presence at the upper end of the order with the third fastest time, marginally ahead of Cal Crutchlow, who came to a stop on track towards the end of the session.
Karl Harris maintained his top five form in fifth, ahead of usual suspects Leon Camier, Michael Rutter and Michael Laverty. Simon Andrews and Scott Smart rounded out the top ten, while Knockhill podium sitter James Ellison moved to 11th as he embarks on a slow start to the weekend.
In the Daily Star Cup, Chris Burns rose to the top in 16th place overall after Gary Mason suffered a fall and had to cut his session short. John Laverty was second best in 18th.
