Michael Rutter was in a buoyant mood following qualifying for the latest Bennetts British Superbike round at Cadwell Park after securing a spot on the second row of the grid.

The North West Ducati rider doesn't consider Cadwell Park as one of his favourite circuits on the calendar, but the Mallory winner put that behind him to ease into the new top ten 'shootout' and go on to claim sixth on the grid.

Coming here after a strong weekend at Knockhill too, Rutter admits he was very pleased to get amongst the front runners.

"I am more than pleased with that," he told Crash.net Radio. "I struggle round here normally because this is not one of my favourite circuits, so I am very happy.

"If we can get two good finishes here then I will be happy, because we can then go and concentrate on the last three meetings. I enjoy the last three circuits, so that is where I reckon I can get some good points."

Currently seventh in the standings, just five points behind fifth, Rutter has a good chance to move up the order this weekend in the absence of sixth place James Ellison, while fifth place Leon Camier starts just one place further up on the grid.

"It would be great to jump up two places then I will be pleased, but first we must try and get a couple of good finishes here."
